Can My Child Still Play Sports if They Attend a Charter School?

If you’re the parent/guardian of a High School student, chances are athletics are an important part of your child’s life. Whether it’s Friday night football, soccer practice, or track meets, sports build discipline, teamwork, and confidence.

So, it’s natural to ask:
“If my child attends a charter school, can they still participate in school sports?”

The Short Answer: Yes.

While not all charter schools offer their own athletic programs, many—like ours—are designed to work with local school districts, so students don’t have to miss out on those experiences.

How It Works

At our school, we’ve structured the day with students in mind. Classes end at 3:00 PM, allowing students time to travel to their zoned Horry County Schools campus and participate in sports programs offered there.

This means your child can:

  • Attend a specialized, career-focused high school during the day

  • AND still play for their local district-school team

There is no need to choose between academics and athletics.

Why This Matters

Many families worry that choosing a charter school means giving something up. In reality, it’s about gaining more opportunities.

Your child can:

  • Receive hands-on, career-driven education

  • Learn in a focused, supportive environment

  • Stay connected to their community through sports

The Best of Both Worlds

We believe students shouldn’t have to choose between pursuing their future career and participating in the activities they love today.

By keeping our schedule aligned with local athletic programs, we make it possible for students to do both.
